The dire need for parking spaces in inner city areas is one of the tribulations of everyday life which, although familiar to us all, can become a cost-intensive and long-term nuisance to small and medium-sized service companies that eventually has to be paid for by every customer. The craftsman's parking permit for the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region (MRN) facilitates the work practices of craft and trade companies, which are frequently on assignment at different places throughout the region. Whereas previously they had to apply for a separate municipal special permit to park in public areas, since 2008 they have been able to use the regional craftsman's parking permit recognised by all the 290 local authority districts in the MRN.
The Technology Region Karlsruhe (TRK) and the MRN have mutually recognised their respective regional craftsman's parking permits since January 1, 2011. It now applies throughout an area covering 7,634 square kilometres from Forbach (Rastatt local district council) in the south to Gross-Rohrheim (Bergstrasse local district council) in the north, as well as from Oberschlettenbach (Südliche Weinstrasse local district council) in the west over to Ravenstein (Neckar-Odenwald local district council) in the east. Special offer: extended area of validity at no additional cost. For EUR 150 a year, companies can still park their vehicles for the duration of work assignments in no waiting zones, parking meter spaces, traffic-calmed zones and residential zones.
