The Chairperson of the Association and his/her representative serve in an honorary capacity and are elected by the Association Assembly for four years. The Chairperson chairs this body and the administrative board by virtue of his/her office.

Chairperson of the Association since April 28, 2006 is the Lord Mayoress of Ludwigshafen, Dr. Eva Lohse. She is in her second period of office, which began with her re-election on 25.6.2010.
