Model for small and medium-sized business bursaries

Project logo: Small to medium-sized business bursary model

The Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region Small to Medium-sized Business Bursary (MMM) model is an initiative by small and medium-sized companies in co-operation with institutes of higher education from the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. By awarding bursaries of €500 per term, the companies take over a sort of sponsorship for individual students.

Companies announce bursaries for students in a desired field. Potential candidates are preselected by the college dependent upon their academic performance and their names are put forward to the companies, which then select the bursary recipients according to their appropriate specialist fields.

The maximum grant period is four terms for Bachelor of Art courses and two terms for master's courses. Neither students nor companies are obliged to accept or assign traineeships, dissertations or takeovers in employment relationships, but of course other starting points can result between companies and students.

Long-term partnerships can arise between small and medium-sized companies and institutes of higher education, and with them direct support for the ever so crucial next generations, under the motto "Small and medium-sized businesses donate the future".
