Job market

Set against the background of demographic change and the associated many and varied ramifications for the job market, the "Vibrant employment market" is committed to achieving a well-balanced ratio of supply and demand for specialists and executives in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.

The focus is directed at three fields of action:

  • Activation and qualification of specialists for building up vocational maturity and working ability
  • Initialisation and/or bundling of existing measures and programmes in the recruiting sector and acquisition of specialists and executives.
  • Supporting measures and coordination of activities and models for retaining specialists and executives in the working process.

In line with the principle of subsidiarity, these objectives are pursued together with the central regional protagonists from companies, local authorities, public administration, colleges, educational institutions, the Federal Agency of Employment and chambers of industry and commerce with a multitude of projects, theme-related networks, lobby work and marketing.

All direct and indirect measures are oriented to, amongst others, economic, job market and socially related data for the metropolitan region.
The central communication and exchange platform for all those concerned with the regional job market is the annual employment market conference, which is attended by several hundred participants. The special characteristic of this conference is that it brings together all the relevant topics affecting current job market and employment policy. It ties together different perspectives and approaches that are significant in achieving a sustainable working environment, beginning with strategies for dealing with demographic change and the lack of professional workers, new methods of education and training, through to concepts for better compatibility of work and family or career planning.

The region thus offers a perfect environment to those people living here who want to develop and evolve. By means of a systematic bundling of available strengths and the co-operation with external and internal partners, beginning at the infant stages of discovering and promoting talent a value added chain is set into motion which continues through to old age, and in the end sustainably supports commitment and dedication, the working and occupational capabilities and quality of life of every individual, just as much as the economic performance and innovative potential of the region.
