Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar

Lines of origin

The "track search" that formed part of the "Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region – town, state, homeland" project sheds light on the diverse lines of origin of people living in the region, and visualises internal migration with the aid of people's relocating history within the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region (MRN). The citizens of the MRN have thus created their very own "lines of origin map", which illustrates the relationships between urban and rural areas and sharpens people's perception of their region. The project raises awareness of historical common characteristics and developments, and strengthens the regional identity, "we feeling" and social cohesion in the region.

Between April 24 and October 31, visitors to m-r-n.com told us from where they, their parents, grandparents or older generations have moved to within the region. Everybody who took part in the survey also had the chance every week to win some great prizes.

We have charted their "tracks", anonymously of course, in the lines of origin map. We would like to thank all the participants and congratulate the happy winners!
