Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar

Tourist information

Situated at the intersection of four wine-growing areas, the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region (MRN) is above all a testimony to its extremely favourable climatic conditions. From the Palatinate forest through to the Odenwald region, an especially mild climate all year round allows almonds, figs and even citrus fruits to prosper. Under these conditions, it is hardly surprising that an almost bewildering number of wine and folk festivals invite visitors to celebrate throughout the year. The world's largest wine festival (the Dürkheim sausage market) and the German Vintage Wine Festival in Neustadt (where the official coronation of the German wine queen takes place) are probably the most famous tourist attractions.
